"Positivity Run Amok: When Good Intentions Transform into Cult-Like Behavior"
+ Healing Frequencies, Hydroponic Greens Ready to Be Picked, and more...
Greetings to all,
For the longest time, I wore rose-colored glasses, embracing a Pollyanna way of life that only saw positivity in every twist and turn of life. I taught the idea of the "Law of Attraction" long before it became a buzzword with the movie The Secret.
It was an enticing concept—just believe, and everything will fall into place. Make Dream Boards, Vision Boards… Like winning at the slot machines in Las Vegas, sometimes it worked like magic. Yet, life has a way of throwing curveballs.
My background in psychoanalysis gently nudged me to take a closer look at my expectations vs. my experiences. This "Law of Attraction" turned out to be more of a "theory" of attraction. Sometimes it clicked, and other times, it left me scratching my head in frustration.
The so-called "people in the know" told me that if things didn't pan out, it meant I had lingering negative beliefs, blockages, or that my convictions weren't strong or aligned enough, or that I had “lessons to learn.” The prescription? Believe more, meditate more, eliminate more blockages, study more... and, of course, invest in more courses.
There was always something I did or didn’t do correctly that was to blame. And of course, the “Law” was never to be questioned. After all, it’s a LAW, just Believe… Better.
My exploration led me to the realm of quantum science and the "Butterfly Effect." According to the mathematician and meteorologist Edward Norton Lorenz, this effect illustrates how minor perturbations, like a butterfly flapping its wings weeks earlier, can influence the formation and path of a tornado.
If a tiny butterfly can cause such a ripple in the weather, how could my beliefs alone guarantee the outcomes I desired? It became clear that life, much like weather patterns, is quite unpredictable. And we can positively enjoy it, rain or shine!
Within the New Age movement and with clients, I often hear the mantra, "Let's not talk about this; it's negative. We don't want to surround ourselves with negative energies." It seemed like any mention of troubling things is to be banned from our thoughts, as if acknowledging them would bring about a curse.
I've learned that acknowledging challenges doesn't necessarily attract negativity. Instead, it's about understanding life, with its ups and downs. Addressing the downs can lead to growth and positive change.
How can we have a clean house if we refuse to see the dust and the dirt and remove it? How can we grow vegetables in our garden if we refuse to see the weeds that are choking the plants, so we can remove them? Turning a blind eye to the dust, dirt, and weeds does not nullify the problem.
I've been mulling over this for some time: Is the positive thought movement - making a comeback with some gurus - in our best interest? It's like, instead of tackling the nitty-gritty issues, we choose to ignore them, just to avoid being labeled as "negative."
Could it be that as a result, we now find ourselves in this chaotic world? Maybe, just maybe, if we had kept a healthy dose of objectivity and metaphorically "cleaned house," things wouldn't be as messy.
Could we have stopped the rise of problems like drugs, child and human trafficking, child mutilation, Big Pharma, chronic diseases, unhealthy foods, wars and extreme violence? What if, collectively, we had faced “reality” head-on and had taken action, instead of burying our heads in the sand, getting lost in social media, soap operas, video or sports games, or just waiting around for a savior, be it human or alien?
I wrote several articles about the work of Edward Bernays, the father of public relations, marketing and propaganda. His book, Propaganda, is short and quite eye opening (and maybe even scary). Society has been been hypnotized (partly by this “positive” movement which, I agree, is quite appealing), yet it’s time to wake up.
A few years ago, Dr. David Gruder, a psychologist who introduced me to Meridian-Based Energy Psychotherapy aka the Tapping Techniques, spoke about how we have been highjacked in a TEDxEncinitas talk. The notion of fact checking has now gotten a different flavor. David was talking about us doing the fact-checking, i.e. digging deep to find the truth.
Do I believe that we can influence our lives? Yes, I do, to some extent. I just read the book Real Magic by Dean Radin, PhD. He performed many experiments and compiled the experiments of other researchers, looking at whether our beliefs can influence a situation. The answer seems to be YES, to some extent. Maybe 51%?
On another side… I know people who could not be more negative about everything, and who have thriving lives.
Depending on how you want to look at like, life is complex… or very simple.
I’d love to get your thoughts on the subject.
A Personal Story… to illustrates the power of thoughts influencing the weather
Back in March 2006, my younger children and I found ourselves in a challenging place, hiding in different states.
We were driving through Utah on that day when a sudden blizzard struck, creating a dangerous situation. In that critical moment, a calming “presence" combined two thoughts in my mind.
Firstly, I remembered studying the energy signature of the love frequency with Dr. Laskow.
Secondly, I had read in Glenda Green’s book Love Without End, that there is a "love signature" in everything, and that love doesn't harm love.
I was guided to connect my love with the love frequency of the blizzard.
The blizzard stopped, and blue skies emerged—not once, but five times that day. One of my children remarked on how strange it was that a blizzard would quickly turn into clear skies. The next day, it happened three more times.
As we were driving from the Grand Canyon to Flagstaff, facing icy roads and dropping temperatures, the car started to slide. I needed more than my own thoughts to keep us safe, so I shared with my children how blizzards turned into blue skies. My daughter assured me, "Mom, we bought some amulets from the Native Americans this afternoon… everything will be all right."
Right after, a snow plow with bright lights appeared in my rearview mirror. I was able to drive to the side of the road to let it pass. The driver stopped, came to my car, and told me he would plow the way to Flagstaff, and to “just follow about 30 feet behind.” We arrived safely at our motel some 45 minutes later.
Fast forward to my brother's wedding - years later - when the weather was uncertain. Having successfully stopped a blizzard before, I was wondering if I could prevent rain for his special day. It did NOT work! It rained.
What made the difference? It was that invisible “presence” that had guided me in the blizzard when our lives were in danger. On my brother’s wedding, it was “just me” wanting a sunny day for this celebration!
Energy, vibrating at different frequencies…
I just came across this video about sounds transforming our cells. I’ve worked since 2002 with different energy devices, which tune up/transform cells, and I wrote several articles about cymatics… yet had never heard about how healing the buzzing of bees could be.
Did you know that the frequencies of a cat purring helps broken bones to heal faster?
Need an energy boost but don’t want to drink another cup of coffee? Listen to the frequencies of the late Regina Murphy’s Double Espresso
Need healing sounds? Listen to the late Regina Murphy’s Sound Therapy frequencies 285Hz, 528Hz 852Hz
You don’t have to listen attentively or watch the videos, just put the sounds in the background and go about your day.
BEWARE… BE AWARE
Even my home country of Switzerland is working on… synthetic milk. It’s “kinder to animals,” yet not truly vegan since it contains the blood of a cow which was used originally to develop this new product.

Hydroponics
Fortunately, we can make healthier choices by growing some of our own food.
After 21 days, the first greens from my hydroponic garden # 2 are ready to be picked, and I will now continue to have greens for several months.
Until next time, keep living with
PASSION, PURPOSE and DELIGHT!
