Greetings to all,
I just read an anecdote, one of those which could be funny if it was not also tragic.
2 cops arrested a guy and placed him in the back of their police car. Suddenly, one of the cops yelled, “Shots fired.” He rolled down on the grass beside the car and started shooting at the patrol car. His colleague joined him. They called for back-up.
After investigation, it was shown that the “shots fired” was an acorn which had landed on top of the police car, creating the mayhem.
Fortunately, nobody was injured and the cop resigned.
This leads me to talk about PRIMING.
Something happens, which our mind/brain links to something else, which sets up a whole chain of events.
During my talks about placebo (I please) and nocebo (I harm) effects, I give several examples about priming.
Here is one:
Many years ago, in a university in Germany, a professor was very disliked by his students. During a break, they “arrested” him and made him face a mock trial, during which he was sentenced to die, having his head chopped on a block.
As they put the head of the professor on a chopping block, another student lowered his ax onto another block… and the professor died… of a heart attack. He probably expected to have his head roll onto a basket.
We are primed, daily. Other research, in Germany again, showed that when we sip on a warm drink, we tend to be nicer to the people we meet. A cold drink has the opposite effect.
We are primed by people or things we see, by sounds we hear, by aromas we smell, by touch, etc. We are primed by memories and beliefs.
On the placebo side, we have people who immediately feel good after ingesting a first dose of a medication which should only have an effect after two weeks of taking it.
We can prime ourselves by using self-hypnosis to meet various challenges, whether it’s facing an interview, a flight, an elevator or a dental/surgical procedure.
Our minds are quite malleable. Let’s use them for our benefit.
Want to know more? Why not schedule a complimentary and confidential call, during which we can talk about how you can input positive thoughts or behaviors in your mind.
I have a yearly pass ttohe Denver Museum of Nature and Science and often attend their presentations. For Valentine - actually the day before - they had a talk on “The Archeology of Sex” followed by a movie. Yep, cave paintings was not just about hunting and fishing or fighting. They had depictions of sex acts, which I am not posting on this blog.
Rarely have I listened to such an entertaining speaker. She narrated and showed slides of cave drawings of sex acts, as well as pictures of skeletons found in interesting positions, and had us in stitches.
Interspaced in her narration were questions to the audience, rewarded by prices for the correct answers.
The last 2 questions:
What generation has experienced or is experiencing the least sex?
Response: Gen Z.
What generation has experienced or is experiencing the most sex?
Response: Baby Boomers!
Yes, of course. We took the time to enjoy it as cell phones did not exist yet.
“What were our parents doing without cell phones and computers?”
“I don’t know… let me ask my 17 siblings!”
As always,
LIVE with PASSION, PURPOSE and DELIGHT!
